Maintenance service guarantees continuous operational safety

Nearly all Atrex equipment supplied by Megatrex is covered by a maintenance agreement with the customer. This is the most reliable way to ensure a high operational uptime and a long service life.

“With the maintenance agreement, we commit to visiting the equipment at least twice a year. We inspect the equipment, service it and always compile an inspection report that is delivered to the customer afterwards. We report, for example, the condition of the frame structure, rotor system and gearbox. The service helps to anticipate Atrex’s maintenance needs and creates a continuum for the equipment’s full-time use”, says Heli Einola-Virtanen, the responsible for Megatrex’s maintenance and spare parts services.

Maintenance visits are always scheduled at times convenient for the customer, such as during natural downtimes.

Maintenance agreements are tailored to the customer’s specific needs and can vary accordingly. For instance, more comprehensive agreements may include spare parts as part of the package.

“We also commit to keeping a certain number of spare parts readily available for the customer, ensuring swift access during urgent situations,”, Einola-Virtanen continues.

Megatrex’s maintenance agreement carries a strong promise that the company’s maintenance service is always available. Dedicated Atrex technicians, highly familiar with the equipment, often resolve issues over the phone. In the most demanding cases requiring on-site visits, maintenance is provided without delay. In this context, Heli Einola-Virtanen thanks the extremely committed personnel, whose flexibility has been and is a guarantee of keeping the promise.

And kept it! According to Einola-Virtanen, customer feedback concerning the maintenance service is 100% satisfied.

“Customers appreciate our quick response times and the comprehensive nature of our service. Alongside resolving immediate issues, we inspect the entire system, anticipate future maintenance needs, and help plan usage and upkeep holistically,” Einola-Virtanen explains.

Maintenance time depends on the equipment and the need. The most common time by the machine is 4–8 hours.

Whether the customer has a maintenance agreement or not, Megatrex strives to take care of the equipment it sells. In non-contractual cases, the customer is contacted periodically and a maintenance visit is suggested. Starting point is that Megatrex maintains its equipment and only the company’s own original parts with which the equipment is made are used as spare parts. 24-month mechanical device warranty also requires original parts.

Regardless of where the equipment is located, Megatrex exclusively uses its skilled personnel for maintenance. This ensures the highest quality service, as no one knows the equipment better than the manufacturer.

Atrex can be updated as well

Some basic tasks are required from the customer themselves. When commissioning the equipment, basic maintenance measures, such as monitoring and maintaining oil flows are reviewed. Customers are also provided with an equipment manual and user training, enabling them to handle certain tasks, like replacing the rotor system or gearbox. Once these parts are replaced, they can be sent to Megatrex for servicing. However, an annual inspection by Megatrex’s team is strongly recommended.

In addition to maintenance, equipment updates may be necessary in some cases. This may be the case if older generation equipment is modernised or the customer’s need changes. In the event, for example, the material processed by Atrex changes, it is examined whether changes to the rotor system or other actions need to be carried out.

“In cases where we have delivered automation as well, it may be a question of updating automation remotely”, Einola-Virtanen provides an example. “In some locations, we are able to remotely monitor the equipment through automation system and see, for example, the need for maintenance from certain types of vibration levels as well.”

Regular, preventive maintenance is like insurance for long-term reliable operation of the Atrex machine. It is no wonder that as more and more equipments are shipped around the world, the importance of maintenance services in Megatrex’s business continues to grow.
